겸씨의 집은 호지 펜션의 주인부부와 개구쟁이 아들, 그리고 점잖은 개 한마리가 함께 사는 33평의 단독주택이다. 이 집은 방들이 두 줄로 나란히 나열되어 있는데, 이는 작은 면적을 효율적으로 쓰고 형태를 단순화하기 위한 것이다. The house for Mr. Kyum is a single family house where the owner of 'hoji' pension, a rascal son, and a decent dog live together. The house has rooms arranged side by side in two rows to efficiently use a small area and simplify its shape.
박공지붕, 덧댄 처마 등이 전원의 일자형 민가와 닮았지만 세개의 빛굴뚝이 이 집만의 특징을 만들어낸다.
The gable roof and eaves are similar to the straight-line private house in the countryside, but the three chimneys create a unique feature of this house.
중정 마당을 거쳐 기다란 현관에 들어서면 두 개의 빛굴뚝을 통해 침실 혹은 부엌으로 들어설 수 있다.

방 모서리 사이에 끼어들어간 다이아몬드 모양의 초록 대리석 바닥 공간은 각 방으로 들어가는 문이 한데 모인 작은 전실로, 이곳을 통해 밤에는 별을 보고 낮에는 빛을 들인다. 지붕을 뚫고 솟아오른 모습이 밖에서 보면 거대한 배의 굴뚝처럼 보이기도 한다. 빛 굴뚝의 거실 벽면에 난 타원형 개구부는 자연스럽게 조명이 되어 거실의 경사진 높은 천장을 어스름하게 밝히고, 이와 함께 작은 한식창과 중정 그리고 콘크리트 기둥이 만들어내는 거실은 서양적인 듯 하면서도 동양적이다. The exterior finished with concrete has no sense of difference from the surroundings, like the symmetrical granary familiar in the countryside, but the corrugated steel roof that shines like a silver hairtail and the eaves with different angles add a mechanical feel to the house.
