지금까지의 많은 다가구 주택들은 각각의 대지와 세대수의 논리에 따라 그 조형이 제각각 얻어진다고 해도 과언이 아니며 그러한 연유로 형태는 이해되기 힘들며 구조는 어그러지고 공간은 억눌린다. 그 결과는 고스란히 입주자에게 남겨지고 여전히 우리는 식탁하나 제대로 놓을 만한 살만한 다가구주택을 찾기 힘들다. 망원동 단단집은 쉽게 이해될 수 있는 친숙한 대칭적 형식안에 새로운 형식의 공간으로 이루어진 5세대의 삶에 대한 제안이다. 2,3층에 위치한 투룸은 현대사회의 변화에 따라 지난 모더니즘의 경제적 산물인 LDK에서 주방, 식당을 독립적으로 구획하여 거실의 쾌적성을 확보하는 반면, 전통적으로 밀실한 침실은 오히려 느슨하게 구획함으로써 거실과의 개방감과 실용성을 동시에 가진다. Cascade house in Mangwon-dong is a proposal for the life of the 5units with a new type of space in a familiar symmetrical form that can be easily understood. The 'two rooms' located on the 2nd and 3rd floors secure the comfort of the living room by independently partitioning the kitchen and dining room in LDK, an economic product of the past modernism, according to the changes of modern society, while the traditionally closed bedrooms rather loosely partition the living room. It has openness and practicality at the same time.

이는 집의 중심에서 거실, 주방, 방을 나누는 대리석 기둥과 나무 미닫이문을 통해 이루어지고 그 결과, 거실에서 대리석 기둥을 중심으로 분기되면서 보이는 주방과 침실의 공간적 병치는 드라마 셋트장을 보는 듯 초현실적이며 미닫이문의 나무결 무늬와 대리석 기둥의 패턴은 거실의 크기를 압도한 장식적 캐릭터를 완성한다. The wood grain pattern of the door and the pattern of marble columns complete the decorative character that overwhelms the size of the living room.

4층에 위치한 집은 길게 늘어선 LDK공간과 기능이 집약된 복도가 특징적이다. 사선제한에 의해 생성된 입단면의 단段들을 반대편에도 반복함은 법규가 만들어 내는 형태에 대한 일종의 비판이며, 전체가 가진 대칭의 모습은 벨기에 마을의 집들, 도토리가 열린 나무, 혹은 게임 마인크래프트를 어렴풋이 연상시키며 사람들의 마음에 다양한 기억을 소환한다. 외벽 전체를 둘러싼 붉은 타일과 창 주변의 장식적 디테일은 동네의 흔한 다가구, 다세대 주택에 대한 풍자적 오마주이다. The house located on the 4th floor is characterized by a long line of LDK space and a corridor where functions are concentrated. Repetition of the edges of the elevation created by the diagonal limit on the other side is a kind of criticism of the form created by the law, and the symmetry of the whole is a representation of the houses of a Belgian village, a tree with an acorn open, or the game Minecraft. It vaguely recalls and summons various memories in people's minds. The red tiles surrounding the entire exterior wall and the decorative details around the windows are a satirical homage to the neighborhood's common multi-family houses.
